Kolkata Knight Riders Reflect on IPL Challenges
New Delhi [India] - On May 2, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain Ajinkya Rahane shared insights regarding the team's recent narrow losses in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, highlighting the significance of extracting lessons from these experiences.
Currently, the defending champions find themselves in seventh place, having secured only four victories out of ten matches in this year's lucrative league. The Knight Riders have faced five defeats, with one match being called off due to rain.
“It's tempting to focus on what could have been if we had won those close matches. However, that's the nature of cricket, particularly in T20 formats. What’s crucial now is to learn from those experiences, maintain confidence in our strengths, and work on reducing errors in the upcoming four matches. We must play to our capabilities and give our all to secure victories,” Rahane stated during a press briefing with Star Sports.
The seasoned batter also discussed the importance of their forthcoming home matches against the Rajasthan Royals on May 4 and the Chennai Super Kings on May 7.
“The next two home games against RR and CSK are vital. Although they may not be in the playoff contention, they pose a threat as they have nothing to lose. Teams in such positions often play freely, so it’s essential for us to approach these games with the right mindset and determination to win,” the 36-year-old added.
Kolkata Knight Riders are set to face the Rajasthan Royals next on Sunday at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
